Did you know the Shawnee Indian Mission has a Library?

The Shawnee Methodist Mission in Fairway lies at the heart of the history of Johnson County. While the site is popular for school children and tourists, it also serves as a resource for those interested in the history of the Trails, Westward expansion and Indian-White relations.

The Mission has a small library that serves the needs of students and academics looking to research these topics. It houses a collection of books and periodicals, as well as hundreds of clippings files.

JoCoHistory is happy to have the complete index of these files listed on the site, as well as the complete published holdings (.doc) of the library.

The Shawnee Mission library is open by appointment only. Call (913) 262-0867 for more information.
