Olathe, home of the Cowboy boot?

The modern cowboy boot may have been invented in Olathe. The Hyer Boot Company is widely credited as being one of the first to manufacture and sell these boots to homesteaders, ranchers and farmers in the latter 19th century.

Even today, the cowboy boot is a symbol of Olathe, appearing in large public art pieces around the city.
